How to Log Into Your WordPress Dashboard
Updated 23 June 20260 views1 min read
Your WordPress dashboard is where you manage your site's content, themes and settings. Here's how to log in, plus what to do if you've forgotten your password.
Step 1 — Go to your wp-admin URL
- In your browser, type your website address followed by /wp-admin — for example, yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
- Press Enter to load the WordPress login page.
If you've just installed WordPress, this is the same login URL the New App Installer showed you when it finished.
Step 2 — Enter your login details
- Type your WordPress Username or Email Address.
- Type your Password.
- Tick Remember Me if you're on your own device and want to stay signed in.
- Select Log In.
You'll be taken straight to your WordPress dashboard.
Step 3 — Reset a forgotten password
If you can't remember your password, you can reset it by email:
- On the WordPress login page, select Lost your password?
- Enter the username or email address for your WordPress account.
- Select Get New Password.
- Check your inbox for an email from WordPress and open the reset link inside it.
- Enter a new password (or accept the strong one suggested) and save it.
- Return to the login page and sign in with your new password.
The reset email goes to the admin email address set up for your WordPress account, so be sure to check that inbox (and your spam folder).
Next steps
If the reset email never arrives, or you no longer have access to that email address, open a support ticket with your domain name and we'll help you regain access.
