How to Install WordPress

Updated 23 June 20260 views2 min read

Getting WordPress up and running is quick with the app installer built into your control panel. This guide walks you through installing WordPress and logging in for the first time.

Before you start

You'll need a website set up in your control panel, and the domain you'd like WordPress installed on. Have an admin username, a strong password and a contact email ready, as you'll set these during the install.

Step 1 — Open your website in the control panel

  1. Log in to your account and head to your control panel.
  2. Find the website you want to install WordPress on and open its dashboard.

Step 2 — Launch the app installer

  1. From your website's dashboard, open the New App Installer.
  2. Choose WordPress from the list of available apps.

Step 3 — Enter your admin details

  1. Fill in the admin username you'd like to use.
  2. Set a strong password (and make a note of it somewhere safe).
  3. Enter the email address for the admin account. This is used for important notifications and password resets.

Step 4 — Install

  1. Review your details, then start the install.
  2. Wait a few moments while WordPress is set up. Once it's done, the installer displays your wp-admin login URL (usually yourdomain.com/wp-admin).
  3. Make a note of that login URL.

Step 5 — Log in to WordPress

  1. Open the wp-admin login URL shown by the installer in your browser.
  2. Enter the username and password you chose during the install.
  3. You'll land on your WordPress dashboard, ready to start building your site.

Next steps

If WordPress doesn't install, or you can't reach your wp-admin login page, open a support ticket with your domain name and we'll help you get sorted.
